Statement

I have submitted a variety of work, some still life, personal work and college work. I will explain some in order scrolling down the page, the first was drawn when I only had a select few pens in a few colours, I drew several quick, simple illustrations to see how the colours all went together, this was the best result. The next two were drawn on my foundation course as an exploration into the alphabet and how to represent it in images. I started with the ink and watercolour animals but changed to pen and colouring pencil simpler food drawings when I realised it would be too time consuming to do a whole watercolour animals alphabet. The next two are recent personal work, the first I tried to fit faces into the alphabet and the opposite page is inspired by the first. It was a really satisfying exercise as it encouraged me to think differently about body/head shapes. The life drawings were done at college, I am looking forward to doing more life drawing. The box I created as something constructive to cover in a pattern. The “capital, chap” was an idea I instantly drew, it turned out to be something I didn't think I could improve on. And finally, the Siamese twins were created when I rediscovered my dippy ink pen, the characters came out of the scratchy, scrawly medium.

I am interested in your programme as I feel I need to learn more about illustration and to refine my drawing skills and styles. I lack skills in editing illustrations and drawings on computers and would really love to learn and start using computers to create illustrations, I have a good basic knowledge on most creative software, using some weekly for photographic editing purposes. I am eager to get some direction for my creativity and achieve a degree to enhance my future prospects.
